There is plenty to do in Auvergne; it is a vast and unspoilt area offering spectacular sightseeing and every imaginable outdoor activity.
The wide open spaces offer the opportunity to get away from it all.

Rambling is the most popular leisure activity in the region with locals and tourists alike, you can explore with a local map and a compass or follow the marked trails, some from La Vironne. Exploring the region on horseback is a relaxing way to spend the day. You can do this from the village of Auzelles approximately 20 minutes drive away at the ‘Ferme de la Rodde’.
Paragliding and Hand gliding  is very popular at the summit of the Puy de Dôme. Qualified professionals are available to guide you through your first flight in a two seater. There is also a hand gliding centre at the village of Job.
Cycling, on or off road is a popular and energetic way to explore. Mountain Biking is known as VTT here in France and Ambert has its own VTT centre and there are numerous routes which are very well marked and graded by the tourist authority.
The rivers, streams and lakes of the Puy de Dôme are home to many fish species with Trout being the most common in the rivers and streams of the Livradois-Forez in the Sancy Massif and the Souile. Char thrive in the deep lakes, such as Lac Pavin near the village of Besse.

Fly over the Puys or Sancy Massif in a Hot Air Balloon enjoy the silence, broken only by the burst of the burners as the balloon climbs to an altitude of around 1,500m. The view is exhilarating. Contact details are available at the tourist office.
You could bring your own bikes which would be perfectly safe stored here at La Vironne.
