In the past the lakes, rivers and waterfalls have not only shaped the regions gorges but they provided energy for the many paper mills and cutlery works of the area.

Today they are a great way to enjoy your leisure time.

Just a 15 minute walk from La Vironne is the Plan d’eau, a lake where you can hire pedal boats, go for a swim, sunbathe or play on the beach or just simply enjoy a stroll around it and get back to nature.

Auvergne is home to some major rivers of France. The Loire, Lot, Dordogne and Allier all flow through the region and are almost exclusively dedicated to leisure activities.

The gorges of the Allier, Loire, Sioule and Lot are popular for Canoeing, Kayaking, White Water Rafting and Canyoning.

Festival H20

Every summer 45 towns in the region hold a festival of water with an introduction to water sports and fishing as part of this lively international festival.
